We are a multi-disciplined Government Business Enterprise and an agency of the South Australian Attorney-General’s Department.

Our history

The Public Trustee was founded 1 January 1881 by the State Government to oversee the safe and economic administration of deceased estates.

Although deceased estate administration and trusts have remained core business activities, our responsibilities have expanded.

This includes the area of personal finance administration, where some members of the community need our help to manage their financial affairs.
